American Vogue caters to pop culture relevance more than it does modeling or fashion. That’s how artists like Rihanna or Lena Dunham are able to grace the cover. As far as modeling goes, models that many people wouldn’t deem as high fashion have graced not only the editorial pages but also the cover of Vogue. I was asked my opinion on whether I felt Kendall was a good model. I feel that she’s not. Kate Upton was on the cover of Vogue- does it mean I have to think she’s a good model? Too many people confuse being pretty with being a good model. There is a difference.

No. But in fairness, the market doesn’t resemble the one that was in place in the 80s/90s. High fashion symbols aren’t overtly important to mainstream consumers (or most media outlets) anymore. Models aren’t superstars anymore (even the more popular ones). There is no chance of that type of impact.

She’s a shit model
my favorite part about high fashion is the complete non sexualization of breasts. like in any other situation besides breast feeding woman’s breasts are seen as sexual objects, but in high fashion it isn’t. it isn’t meant for the male gaze, a see through top isn’t for what’s underneath but simply the aesthetic of the look. I’m not really sure how to explain it but it makes me very happy to see
Idk guys if you im the only one that saw difference between American fashion week and european fashion week but this last nyfw a lot of models of color were on runway, almost half of the cast were models of colors( except calvin klein) but in Europe there’s is only two (10%) models of color per show, 40% are asian and the 60% are white, this shows a lot about what’s the target market of every brand per continent, but idk why in Europe don’t consider ppl color a potential costumer or they are just racist??
don’t sit in your pajamas and reblog posts about how you wish you could be pretty and confident, just do it. Get up early so you can do your hair and makeup all nice for school, flirt with the boys and let them come to you, say “thank you” instead of “no i’m not” when someone calls you pretty, fake that fucking confidence until it’s real, do you understand me? Now go own that red lipstick.
start holding your boyfriends to best friend standards pls
“my boyfriend was annoyed that I didn’t shave for days” vs “my best friend was annoyed that I didn’t shave for days”
“my boyfriend doesn’t like my haircut so I’m growing it out again” vs “my best friend doesn’t like my haircut so I’m growing it out again”
“my boyfriend hates when I wear makeup so I guess I have to stop” vs “my best friend hates when I wear makeup so I guess I have to stop”
if your boyfriend would leave you for something that your best friend wouldn’t care about, KILL THEM AND EAT THEM
